Control head for decentralized automation of ELEMENT process valves
Harco offers the Bürkert Type 8691 On/Off Control Head, specifically designed for decentralized automation of ELEMENT Type 21xx pneumatic process valves. Notably, registration of the valve position is done through a contact-free analogue sensor element, which automatically recognizes and saves the valve end position via the Teach function during start-up. Additionally, the integrated pilot valve controls single or double-acting actuators. Moreover, optional communication interfaces include AS-Interface, IO-Link, or büS (based on CANopen).
Furthermore, the design of Bürkert’s Type 8691 On/Off control head and actuator enables internal control air routing without the need for external tubing. Besides electrical position feedback, the device status is displayed directly on the control head itself through colored, powerful LEDs—even in difficult ambient conditions.
In addition, the housing is easy to clean and features proven IP protection along with chemically resistant materials, making it ideal for hygienic processing in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries. Specifically focused on washdown applications, the IP protection is supported by a positive pressure inside the control head. Combined with Bürkert ELEMENT actuators, the pneumatic actuating system enables spring chamber aeration to prevent actuator chamber contamination from the environment.
